Anna By the Window: the first Luddite movie, LA premiere with Q&A is at Laemmle NoHo7, Los Angeles, on Nov 11, 2026, 7:30 PM.

A small, odd, very current film reaches Los Angeles next week. Anna by the Window is the first movie to come out of New York's Luddite Club scene, and its LA premiere is a screening with both directors in the room.

When: Wednesday, November 11, 2026, 7:30 PM Where: Laemmle NoHo 7, North Hollywood Runtime: 70 minutes, not rated

What the film is about

The story follows a listless teenager moving across New York City in search of his older brother. The brother is an erratic AI founder who is coming apart bit by bit. It is a character piece set against the anxieties of a screen-saturated city, which fits the scene it grew out of: young people in New York who put down their phones and gather in person.

The film is co-directed by James Hyland, an organizer with the Lamp Club, and Myles Flusser. Both are scheduled to attend the screening.

The Q&A

After the film, the animator Vewn moderates a conversation with the directors. For a movie this specific to a moment, that is a big part of the draw. You get to ask how a low-budget film about logging off came together, and how the people who made it think about the technology they are poking at.

Plan your night

A 7:30 PM start on a Wednesday makes this an easy weeknight outing. The theater is in NoHo, and the film runs 70 minutes before the discussion, so expect to be out a bit after 9 PM. Check the theater's listing for seat selection and ticket prices, which the event page does not state. Tickets are sold through Laemmle at laemmle.com/film/anna-window.

If Wednesday doesn't work, the film also plays the Laemmle Royal on Thursday, November 12. The Q&A is billed for the premiere at NoHo 7, so confirm with the theater before assuming the directors appear at the second show.

More to do around town

This screening is a good pick if you are scanning things happening in Los Angeles for something beyond the usual concerts and clubs. It is a niche crowd in the best sense: film fans, people curious about the Luddite movement, and anyone who wants to see a first feature with the filmmakers present.
