Halloween week in Westwood gets a stranger option than another costume party. On Friday, October 30, the Los Angeles artist duo Beck+Col bring their feature film Red All Night to the Nimoy Theater at UCLA, with a conversation after the credits. It is a solid pick if you are scanning for things to do in Los Angeles before the holiday and want something with actual ideas behind the scares.
When: Friday, October 30, 2026, 8:00 PM Where: UCLA Nimoy Theater, 1262 Westwood Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90024 Runtime: 80 minutes, plus a 30 minute Q&A
What the film is
Red All Night starts out as a classic suburban slasher. Then it swerves. One of the victims escapes into an eerie forest full of monstrous plant life, and the villain, a figure called Smile, finally meets opponents he cannot handle: a colorful collective of forest monsters. When someone from his past returns for revenge, the two fight it out while a horde of zombies swarms around them.
The film is the middle chapter of the Red Night trilogy, a horror series that questions individualism as an ideology, meaning the habit of putting the individual ahead of the collective. The trilogy draws on Eugene Thacker's idea of horror as the unknown. Red Night looks at the world-for-us, and Red All Night turns to the world-without-us. The photo above, with its costumed creatures in a red-lit wood, gives a good sense of the handmade, saturated look.
What to expect
This is a screening, not a gallery opening, so plan to sit for the full run. The film is about 80 minutes, and the Q&A adds roughly half an hour, so the evening wraps up close to 10 PM. Expect a campy, psychedelic tone with real conceptual weight underneath it. If you like horror that talks back, this is the one.
Beck+Col also have a related installation in Santa Monica later this fall. You can read about it in our arts and culture coverage, which is a good place to browse LA events this weekend and beyond.
Getting there
The Nimoy sits on Westwood Boulevard, in the heart of the village. Evening parking on campus is $4 starting at 5 PM, while arriving earlier triggers the $30 day rate, so time your arrival accordingly. The campus entrance is on Glendon Avenue; look for the entrance marked VISITOR. The box office opens 60 minutes before showtime on show nights, is cashless, and takes all major credit cards.
Ticket pricing was not listed on the pages we checked, so confirm the price on the CAP UCLA event page before you go. After the Q&A, Westwood Village has plenty of late dinner options within walking distance, which makes this an easy anchor for a full night out.
