Every classic rock station has a handful of songs by bands that never landed a second hit, and somehow those songs are the ones everybody sings loudest. An Evening of Classic Rock's One-Hit Wonders builds a whole night around them. The Random1s, a tribute band that bills itself as classic rock's premier one-hit wonders act, will play the best of the '60s, '70s and '80s on Friday, October 30. It is a good pick if you are scanning upcoming events Los Angeles area fans can reach with a short drive south.
When: Friday, October 30, 2026, 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM Where: Curtis Theatre, 1 Civic Center Cir, Brea, CA 92821 Tickets: Price not listed. See the AllEvents page for current ticket details.
What to expect
The organizer promises true-to-form renditions of the hits, so the goal is to sound like the records rather than reinvent them. The Random1s are a multi-piece group, and the flyer shows them in matching dark suits. The listing does not publish a setlist, so the specific songs are a surprise, but the premise gives you a decent idea: the kind of tunes that made one big splash on the radio and then became permanent fixtures on oldies playlists.
The special guest MC is Shotgun Tom Kelly, a Radio Hall of Fame member and Sirius XM DJ. Expect him to keep the evening moving between songs. The listed window runs one hour, so this is a compact show rather than an all-night affair. Check the event page for any schedule changes before you head out.
Getting there
The Curtis Theatre sits in Brea's Civic Center, in Orange County just past the Los Angeles County line. Brea is not in Los Angeles proper, so plan for the drive from the city and allow extra time on a Friday evening. The organizer's FAQ says there is plenty of parking at the venue, that beverages and light snacks are sold on site, and that the theatre is wheelchair accessible. Contact the organizer ahead of time if you need specific accommodations.
Is it worth the drive?
If you like tribute shows and a nostalgic crowd, yes. Halloween weekend also has plenty of costume parties competing for your attention, and this is the calmer alternative: an early, seated, one-hour show you can finish before the late-night plans begin.
