Weekend shows get most of the attention, but Disney On Ice presents Jump In also has a Monday date at Crypto.com Arena on December 21. It's the week of Christmas, and a lot of kids are already out of school by then. That makes a weekday performance one of the more practical family entries among the Things Happening In Los Angeles that week.

The Monday show

Ticketmaster lists this performance on its own page, separate from the Friday, Saturday and Sunday shows earlier in the stop. The listing we saw didn't show a start time, so open the ticket page before you plan lunch around it. Showtimes for weekday holiday dates can differ from the weekend schedule.

Why go on a Monday? Mostly for the crowds. Weekend matinees before Christmas tend to sell first, and the concourse gets packed at intermission. A weekday date can mean shorter lines at the entrance and a little more choice on the seat map. If you're working that week, a parent who's already off can take the kids while everyone else is at the office.

What to expect

Jump In is a touring production built around Disney characters and songs, with professional figure skaters in full costume on a rink laid over the arena floor. The photo up top comes from an earlier Disney On Ice show, not Jump In, but it gives you an idea of the staging: a dark bowl, spotlights on the ice, and characters kids know on sight.

Bring a sweater. A full sheet of ice keeps the arena cold, and little ones feel it first. Light-up wands and plush toys are sold inside at arena prices, so settle on a budget before you walk in.

Tickets and getting there

Ticketmaster didn't publish a price for this date when we looked, so check the seat map for current costs. We're not going to guess. If you're working through a list of upcoming events Los Angeles families can do over winter break, lock this one in early. Holiday week dates don't stay open for long.

Crypto.com Arena is at 1111 S. Figueroa St., next to L.A. Live. The Metro A and E Lines stop at Pico Station, a short walk away. Event parking in the nearby garages costs a lot, and taking the train with a stroller is usually easier than circling downtown.
