Tevye the dairyman has five daughters, a stubborn faith in tradition and a habit of arguing with God mid-chore. Fiddler on the Roof follows him through a changing village, and the touring production brings that story to the Ahmanson Theatre in downtown Los Angeles for a run of matinees between February 20 and March 6, 2027.

What to expect
The score does a lot of the work. "Tradition," "Matchmaker, Matchmaker," "If I Were a Rich Man" and "Sunrise, Sunset" are all in the show, and many people know them before they ever sit down in a theater. The story centers on Tevye's daughters pushing against the matchmaking customs of their small village of Anatevka while the world outside it grows less safe. It is funny for most of its length and then, near the end, very moving.
A matinee is a good fit for this one. It suits a family outing, a birthday or a weekend with out-of-town guests, and you are home before the late-night crowds. Four dates are on sale, so there is some room to pick a weekend that works. If you are sorting through upcoming events in Los Angeles for late winter, this is an easy anchor for a Saturday downtown. The Ahmanson sits inside the Music Center complex on Grand Avenue, near Walt Disney Concert Hall. The Metro B and D lines stop at Civic Center/Grand Park, a short walk away, and the Music Center garage is close if you drive.
