Free Community Mural Painting Workshops is on Nov 21, 2026, 9:00 AM. Tickets: Free.
If you have ever wanted to put paint on a real wall without having to be an artist, this is the easiest way in. Muralism.org is running free community paint days in the NoHo Arts District, and the November session lands on Saturday, Nov. 21. It is one of the more hands-on LA events this weekend list-makers tend to overlook, because it asks for nothing but a little time.
When: Saturday, Nov. 21, 2026, 9 AM to 2 PM Where: 5260-C Vineland Ave., North Hollywood (NoHo Arts District) Price: Free Registration: Required, space is limited
What happens at the workshop
Muralism.org invites people of all ages and experience levels to help build a community mural. Nobody needs a background in painting. You show up, get a short briefing, and add your own strokes to a shared piece of public art. The organizers supply the paint, the brushes and the guidance, so there is nothing to buy or pack beyond your own enthusiasm.
The workshop window runs from 9 AM to 2 PM, but you do not have to stay the whole time. Participants choose a one-hour painting session within that window, which keeps the wall from getting crowded and gives more people a turn. That makes it easy to fit around a Saturday morning errand run or a lunch plan in the neighborhood.
Who it suits
Families with kids, friends looking for something creative that costs nothing, and neighbors who want a hand in what their district looks like will all find a spot here. Because the mural is a group effort, the pressure to produce something polished is low. The goal is participation, and the result belongs to everyone who picked up a brush.
Plan your visit
Advance registration is required and space is limited, so sign up through the link on the NoHo Arts District listing before you head over. Wear clothes you do not mind getting paint on. The Nov. 21 date is the second-to-last stop in the current series; the listing also names Saturday, Dec. 19 for the next one.
The workshops are made possible in part by a grant from the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, which is why the sessions cost nothing to join.
North Hollywood has plenty going on besides this. If you are mapping out the weekend, our list of upcoming events Los Angeles has to offer is a good place to see what else is on, and the arts and culture page collects more creative, low-cost outings like this one.
