Joe Patton Academy Leadership Daycare 2nd Annual

Most summer programs for little kids are about keeping them busy. The Joe Patton Academy Leadership Daycare has a different aim: teaching the youngest children to lead, follow and belong. Leadership Legion Los Angeles is bringing it back for a second year, and it is a good pick if you are collecting things to do in Los Angeles that are built around kids and inclusion.

When: July 1, 2027, listed from the morning Where: Crete Academy, 6103 Crenshaw Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90043 Price: Free (the ticket page lists $0.00)

What this is

According to the organizers, the first session did well enough that they are now presenting a sneak peek of the 2nd Annual program. It is designed for children in kindergarten through 2nd grade, a younger group than the rest of the Joe Patton Academy programming, and it runs alongside the larger camp activity.

Leadership Legion started in July 2024 as a franchise of Special Needs Network. Its mission is to train youth with autism and developmental disabilities in leadership and teamwork at Camp JPAC, with a simple promise that every child deserves to lead, follow and belong. The group says the goal is that people with special needs are always included and never isolated.

What to expect

The event poster, which is written in Spanish, highlights three features of the daycare: daily digital reports for parents, full CCTV access so families can check in on the room, and cozy nap areas for the little ones. Beyond that, the organizers have not published a detailed schedule, so treat the poster as the best guide to the format.

Parents of children with and without disabilities are the natural audience here, and the Spanish-language flyer suggests the organizers are reaching out to Spanish-speaking families too. If you are planning ahead for summer 2027, this is the kind of listing that belongs on a list of upcoming events Los Angeles families can book early.

Planning your visit

Crete Academy sits on Crenshaw Boulevard in the 90043 area, a straightforward drive from most of central Los Angeles, with street parking typical for the corridor. The listing shows a start time of 8:00 AM as a placeholder, so confirm the real hours with the organizer on the event page before you commit to a drop-off plan. Registration and any age or space limits are handled through the listing.

The date is far out, which makes it easy to forget. Bookmark the page, check back closer to July, and browse our arts and culture events for other family-friendly picks around the city.
