Most Halloween parties in town happen in a bar or a club. This one happens in a museum, and the guest of honor is its namesake. On Friday, October 23, the Vincent Price Art Museum on the East Los Angeles College campus opens its galleries after hours for Museum on Haunted Hill, a night built around the horror icon who also happened to be one of the most generous art patrons in Southern California.
When: Friday, October 23, 2026, 5 to 8 PM Where: Vincent Price Art Museum, 1301 Avenida Cesar Chavez, Monterey Park, CA Price: $50 per guest, free for VPAM members
Why a museum honors Vincent Price
Price was an actor, but he was also a collector, advocate and historian. In 1957, at the height of his career, he donated 90 pieces from his own collection to East Los Angeles College, which started the Vincent Price Art Gallery. That teaching collection has since grown past 7,000 artworks, and the classroom gallery became a three-story, six-gallery museum. Over the years it has staged hundreds of exhibitions that spotlight historically underrepresented artists from East Los Angeles and the San Gabriel Valley.
What to expect
The museum describes the evening as a kickoff to spooky season. Plan on casual screenings of classic Vincent Price films, a costume party, food and drinks, music and a photobooth. Nighttime access to the current exhibitions is part of the ticket, so you can wander the galleries once the sun is down. It is a good pick if you want one of the more distinctive things happening in Los Angeles this October.
Costumes are encouraged. Come as your favorite classic horror character, or go for a Vincent Price-inspired look: a sharp suit, a mustache and a knowing smile will do it.
Tickets and practical info
Tickets are $50 per guest, and members of the museum get in free. Every ticket purchased supports the museum directly, which helps preserve and expand the collection and keeps VPAM a free educational resource for ELAC students and the surrounding communities. Book through the official listing linked on this page before you go, since a ticketed party like this can sell out.
The museum sits on the ELAC campus in Monterey Park, so give yourself time to find parking and the building on a Friday evening. If you are comparing upcoming events Los Angeles has on the Halloween calendar, this one stands out for pairing real art with real horror history. Browse more picks in our arts and culture section.
