Cole Escola's Oh Mary! is finally hitting the road, and Los Angeles gets a proper run of it at the Ahmanson Theater from November 10 through December 6, 2026. If you missed the Broadway run that swept the Tony Awards, this is your chance to catch one of the most talked-about comedies of the decade, and a genuinely wild piece of theater.

The play imagines Mary Todd Lincoln as a thwarted actress trapped in a loveless White House marriage, desperate for the stage. It's a dark comedy that treats its subject with absolutely zero reverence, which is exactly what makes it work. Escola, who wrote the piece and originated the role, built the character over years of performance before Broadway came calling. The result is something that plays more like a live-wire cabaret act than a straight history lesson.

With its Tony win and critical buzz, Oh Mary! ranks among the most anticipated arts events Los Angeles gets this fall. The Ahmanson is the right room for it: 2,100 seats, excellent sightlines, and the kind of production values that let a big comedic performance breathe. Center Theatre Group has a track record of importing Broadway hits at their peak, and this one arrives on tour with full production intact.

If you're scanning for things to do near me in downtown LA this November or December, the Ahmanson sits right in the heart of the Music Center complex on Grand Avenue, a few blocks from Pershing Square. Metro's B (Red) and D (Purple) Lines stop at the Civic Center/Grand Park station, a short walk away. Street parking is available in the surrounding area, and paid lots are adjacent to the Music Center campus.

Tickets go on sale through the Center Theatre Group website and affiliated sellers. Given that the Broadway production sold out repeatedly, booking early makes sense, especially for weekend performances. Pricing varies by seat location and date.

The Ahmanson's full run means you can catch this any time between mid-November and early December. Weekend matinees tend to book fastest, so midweek evenings often have the best availability if your schedule is flexible.
