The title alone tells you what kind of night this is. "A carne só cai no prato do vegano" roughly means the meat only ever lands on the vegan's plate, the Brazilian way of saying bad luck always finds the one person who least deserves it. Raphael Ghanem built a whole stand-up hour around that idea, and he's bringing it to The Regent Theater in downtown LA on Tuesday, October 20, 2026. For LA's Brazilian community, this is one of the more interesting things happening in Los Angeles on a weeknight this fall.

Who's on stage

Raphael Ghanem is a Brazilian comedian with a big following online, where short clips of his sets and sketches travel fast. His material leans on everyday frustrations: the small humiliations of adult life, family, relationships and the stuff that goes wrong at exactly the wrong moment. The show name is in Portuguese and so is his act, so expect the set in Portuguese. If you don't speak it, bring a friend who does and let them catch you up between laughs.

This LA date is one stop on a US run of the same show. Ticketmaster lists other dates in Atlanta and on the East Coast later in October, so Los Angeles gets it first on this swing.

Show details

Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm, according to the Ticketmaster listing. It's all ages, which makes it easier to bring along a teenager who already quotes his clips at dinner. The Regent is a cashless venue, so leave the cash at home and have a card or phone ready for the bar.

The room

The Regent sits at 448 S. Main St. in the Historic Core. It started life as a movie house in the silent film era, sat dark for years, and came back as a live room with a bar and a floor that holds a bit over a thousand people. That's a good size for comedy. You're close enough to see faces, and a big laugh actually rolls around the room.

Getting there

Paid surface lots cluster within a block or two of Main Street, and prices climb on busy nights. Pershing Square station on the Metro B and D lines is about a ten-minute walk. Rideshare drop-off on Main is easy before doors, and the bars along Main and Spring give you somewhere to go after.

Tickets

Tickets are sold through Ticketmaster at the link on this page. We couldn't confirm pricing from the listing, so check the current price there before you buy. If you're lining up things to do in Los Angeles in October, this one pairs well with an early dinner in the Historic Core.
