The Welsh Twins headline The Regent Theater on Friday, September 25, and the timing is the first thing worth knowing. Doors open at 6pm and the show starts at 6:30pm, which is early for a Main Street concert. If you're scanning LA events this weekend for something that won't keep you out past midnight, this one fits.

It's also all ages. That matters more than it sounds. Plenty of downtown rooms card at the door, so a show you can bring a teenager to (or a younger sibling who's been talking about this band for months) is harder to find than you'd think.

The venue

The Regent sits at 448 S. Main St., in the stretch of downtown between 4th and 5th. It's an old movie house. The cover photo above shows the room years ago, before its renovation into a music venue: bare floor, folding chairs, and the same big arched proscenium that still frames the stage today. Live Nation is presenting this one, and for most shows here the floor is general admission, so where you end up depends on when you walk in.

Because the show starts at 6:30pm, getting there close to doors is the easy way to land a spot near the front. Arrive at 7:15 and you'll be watching from the back.

Tickets and price

Tickets are sold through Ticketmaster at the link on this page. We couldn't confirm a price from the listing, so check the Ticketmaster page for the current face value and any fees before you buy. Don't assume there's a box office walk-up option on the night.

Getting there

Main Street downtown is tight for parking on a Friday evening. There are paid lots on the surrounding blocks, but rates climb after 6pm and they fill up once the bars get going. The Metro B and D Lines stop at Pershing Square, a short walk west, and that's the simplest way in if you're coming from Hollywood, Koreatown or Union Station. Rideshare drop-off works fine on Main, though the post-show pickup scrum gets messy, so walk a block before you call a car.

With a 6:30pm start, there's a decent chance you'll be out in time for a late dinner nearby. The blocks around 4th and Main have enough late kitchens that you won't need a reservation.
