Conan O'Brien was born in Brookline, Massachusetts. He got his start in comedy as president of The Harvard Lampoon, a job he held twice, then wrote and produced for TV shows including Saturday Night Live and The Simpsons. In 1993, NBC picked him to take over as host of Late Night.

That began a long run in late night. He wrapped up 11 years of CONAN on TBS in 2021, which brought his time as a late-night host to 28 years. His 2010 live comedy tour became the subject of the documentary Conan O'Brien Can't Stop, and he went back out on a multi-city stand-up tour in 2018.

His podcast, Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend, launched in 2018, and his international travel series, Conan O'Brien Must Go, has won an Emmy. SiriusXM bought his digital brand, Team Coco, in 2022. He hosted the 97th Academy Awards in 2025, and the Television Academy inducted him into its Hall of Fame that same year. He's also a recipient of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.

In August 2026 he added a band. The Vigodas take their name from the actor Abe Vigoda, one of the most memorable recurring players of the Late Night years, and they made their debut at Permanent Records Roadhouse in Los Angeles. O'Brien sings and plays guitar in the five-piece, and that first set mixed rock and rockabilly songs. His upcoming Los Angeles show is billed with the band.

Conan O'Brien was born in Brookline, Massachusetts and started his path in comedy when he served twice as the president of The Harvard Lampoon. Conan went on to become a writer and producer on several television shows, including "Saturday Night Live" and "The Simpsons," until 1993, when NBC tapped him to take over as host of "Late Night."
