Book Club Comedy Hour with Dulcé Sloan

Book Club Comedy Hour is a bi-monthly variety show that takes one book and turns it into a night of laughs. This month's pick is Hello, Friends! by Dulcé Sloan, and the author herself is the special headliner. Sloan is a Daily Show correspondent and a comedian, so the room gets the writer and the punchlines in the same seat. It lands on the list of things happening in Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.

When: Wednesday, October 14, 2026, 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Where: The Last Bookstore Studio City, 4437 Lankershim Blvd, North Hollywood 91602 Tickets: Through the event listing linked below

What to expect

The format is simple. Part book club, part comedy show, all fun. The organizers say plainly that you do not have to read the book, though they promise it will be funnier if you did. Expect a mix of stand-up and bookish bits built around the memoir's stories of dating, destiny and day jobs, with Sloan as the main draw.

Sloan is also set to be available to sign copies, so bring your own book or pick one up at the store. If you mention the show at The Last Bookstore, you get 20% off the title, which makes the bookstore stop part of the plan.

Why go

A bookstore is a good room for comedy. It is small, the crowd is there on purpose, and the performer is a few feet away. If you like your night out with a little reading culture mixed in, this is one of the more original upcoming events Los Angeles has on the calendar this month. It also works as a low-pressure date night or a way to bring a friend who says they never see live shows.

Getting there

The venue sits on Lankershim Boulevard, the main north-south street that runs through the east side of the San Fernando Valley, near Studio City and Toluca Lake. Show time is 7:00 PM, so leave extra room for weeknight traffic on the 101 and Lankershim. Check the event page before you go for current ticket and door details, since the listing did not publish a price we could confirm.
