What to expect

The Laugh Factory is one of the best-known comedy rooms in Hollywood, and its shows run on a simple formula: a small, close room, a lineup of working comics and a crowd that is there to laugh. Ray Lau is the name on this listing. The ticket page does not publish a full bill, so it is worth checking it closer to the date in case other comics are added.

Shows at comedy clubs tend to be tight, so plan on a set that moves quickly rather than a long concert-style evening. The room is intimate, which means the performers can see the audience and the audience can see them. If you like your comedy up close, that is the draw.

Planning your night

Tickets are sold through Ticketmaster, and the listing there is the one to trust for current availability and pricing. We have not been able to confirm a price, so check the checkout page before you commit to a group plan. Many comedy clubs ask for a food or drink minimum, so read the ticket details and give yourself time to be seated before the 8:00 PM start.

The club sits on the Sunset Boulevard side of Hollywood, close to the stretch of restaurants and bars that makes a dinner-and-a-show evening simple. Parking on and around Sunset can be tight on busy nights, so build in extra time, or take a rideshare and skip the search for a space. Arriving a little early also gives you a better shot at a good seat.

If you are filling out a calendar of upcoming events in Los Angeles for December, a stand-up night in a historic room is a low-effort way to get a group out of the house. It works for a date, a birthday or a night out with friends who want something easier than a big production. Browse more shows on our comedy page and see what else is happening around Hollywood.
