Angine de Poitrine is the band your most online friend sent you a clip of sometime in the last year: two people from Québec in polka-dot costumes and towering papier-mâché-looking masks, one playing a double-necked guitar tuned between the notes, the other locking in tight, pulsing drum grooves. On Friday, December 4, they bring that act to The Wiltern. If you're sorting through upcoming events Los Angeles has lined up for early December and want something that won't look like any other show you see this year, this is the one.
Who they are
The duo goes by Klek and Khn de Poitrine, and they keep up the bit. Their own tour copy calls them "space-time voyagers" who "gaze in wonder at hot dogs, pyramids, and rock music," and says any facts about them are "strictly reserved to the humanoids." Fair enough.
Under the costumes, the music is serious. The guitar is microtonal, which means it uses pitches that fall in the gaps of a normal Western scale, so riffs sound slightly bent and sour in a way that gets stuck in your head. The drums stay tight and repetitive, closer to a trance groove than a rock beat. Time signatures lurch. It's dissonant, but it's also weirdly danceable, and crowds at these shows tend to move.
Their first record, Vol. 1, came out in 2024. Since then they've played Québec's big festivals, including the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, and booked Trans Musicales in Rennes, France. Ticketmaster lists the Wiltern date alongside stops at Brooklyn Steel, the Castro Theatre in San Francisco and the Fox in Oakland.
zouz is on the bill as support.
The room
The Wiltern is a 1931 Art Deco theater at Wilshire and Western, on the edge of Koreatown. Look up at the green terra cotta tower on the way in. Inside, the floor is usually general admission standing with a balcony above. For a band this visual, the balcony is a good call if you want to see the whole stage picture. The floor is where the energy is.

Ticketmaster also lists a second Wiltern night on Saturday, December 5. If Friday sells out, look for that date separately.
The Metro D Line's Wilshire/Western station sits right next to the theater, which beats circling Koreatown for street parking on a Friday night. Paid lots nearby fill up when the Wiltern sells out. If you do drive, leave an extra 20 minutes, then grab Korean barbecue or a late bowl of soup along Western after the show.
