Cavetown is bringing the Running With Scissors Tour to The Wiltern on Thursday, October 8, and it's one of the gentler, more personal nights on the calendar of concerts in Los Angeles this fall. Doors open at 7pm. The show starts at 8pm. Chloe Moriondo is listed as the support act.
If you haven't followed along, Cavetown is the project of English songwriter Robin Skinner, who started out posting home recordings online as a teenager and built a huge, devoted audience that way. The songs are soft and a little lo-fi, with ukulele and acoustic guitar sitting next to layered vocals and diary-style lyrics. Fans tend to know every word, so expect the room to sing along loud enough that you can barely hear the stage on the big ones.
Chloe Moriondo is a good match for the opening slot. She also came up through homemade videos, and her newer material leans harder into guitar pop, so the early set should wake the crowd up before Cavetown slows things down.
What to expect
The Wiltern is a 1931 Art Deco theater with a sloped general admission floor and a balcony. Sightlines are solid from most spots, and the sound suits a show like this, where lyrics matter as much as volume. The event is all ages, and every person needs a ticket regardless of age, so bring one for the kid too.
There's a cause attached: Cavetown has partnered with PLUS1, and $1 from every ticket goes to local organizations supporting the health and wellbeing of LGBTQ+ communities.

Bags up to 12" x 6" x 12" are allowed, and every bag gets searched at the door. Bags that aren't clear get an extra look, so a clear bag will get you inside faster. Times and supporting acts can change, per the listing.
Getting there is easy without a car. The Wiltern sits right on top of the Wilshire/Western Metro station, the western end of the D Line, so you walk up the stairs and you're at the box office. Paid lots nearby fill up on show nights, and rideshare pickup on Wilshire gets slow once the crowd lets out.
For more LA concerts coming up, check the concerts page, or browse everything else happening around the Los Angeles area. The Wiltern's marquee is lit up on Wilshire. Walk out of the station and it's right there.
