David Murray Quartet at Blue Note Los Angeles

Few working saxophonists have covered as much ground as David Murray. On Monday, December 21, 2026, he brings his quartet, with vocalist Francesca Cinelli, to Blue Note Los Angeles on Sunset Boulevard. For anyone looking for live music in Los Angeles in the last stretch before the holidays, this is a serious jazz night in a room built for listening.

When: Monday, December 21, 2026 (two ticketed listings, so likely an early and a late set) Where: Blue Note Los Angeles, 6372 W Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90028 Tickets: TicketWeb (price is on the ticket page)

What to expect

Murray came up in the loft-jazz scene of 1970s New York and has since recorded well over a hundred albums as a leader. His tenor sound is big and gravelly, equally at home in free-leaning improvisation and in a plain, swinging ballad. The billing also names Francesca Cinelli, so expect the quartet format to open up around a vocalist rather than stay purely instrumental. Set lists at shows like this tend to move between originals, standards and long solos, so arrive ready to listen closely.

The listed start time on this page is a placeholder, because the ticket seller did not publish a clock time we could confirm. The venue usually runs two performances a night, with doors at 5 PM for the 7 PM show and 9 PM for the 9:30 PM show. Check the ticket page for the exact set time before you head out.

The room and getting there

Blue Note Los Angeles sits in Hollywood, in the former Largo space near Sunset and Ivar, which makes it one of the more polished options among LA concerts. Table seating is all ages, while bar seating is 21 and over with ID. Seating is first-come within the area you buy, so arriving early matters if you want a good view of the stage. Tables carry a food or drink minimum.

Parking is available in the Cinerama Dome garage on Ivar Avenue. If you are mapping out things happening in Hollywood this month, pair the show with dinner nearby, but leave time for the line.
