The Bellwether

A few years ago, DOMi & JD Beck were everywhere. Then they went quiet, and their social accounts just sat there, frozen. Now they're back with a second album and a tour, and the Los Angeles stop lands at The Bellwether on Sunday, October 11, 2026. If you're hunting for concerts in Los Angeles that don't sound like anything else on the calendar, this is the one to circle.

Who they are

Domi Louna is a French-born keyboardist. JD Beck is a drummer from Texas. Together they play at speeds that don't seem physically reasonable, and they make it look relaxed. Their 2022 debut, NOT TiGHT, came out on Blue Note Records with Anderson .Paak's APESHIT label and pulled in two GRAMMY nominations, one of them Best New Artist. Herbie Hancock, Mac DeMarco and Busta Rhymes all turned up on that record. That tells you how wide their fan base runs.

The new album

WHO ASKED? is the record behind this tour, and it's a real left turn. They wrote every note out in notation software before playing anything, then hired classical players to record strings, woodwinds and brass one at a time. Zach Hill (Death Grips, Hella) helped with sound design, and .Paak co-wrote lyrics on "HAD ENOUGH." The bigger surprise is that both of them sing on nearly every track. Picture chamber pop with jazz chops and a lot of odd time signatures.

Songs to know before you go: the 2:33 opener "ÉPiPHANiE," the piano-heavy "CONCERTiNO (FOR PiANO, DRUMS & ORCHESTRA)," and "SMALL EYES," which the duo wrote about their dogs. How much of the orchestral stuff survives on a club stage is part of the fun of finding out.

The room

The Bellwether is at 333 S. Boylston St. in downtown LA. It's a mid-size hall, big enough for a real sound system but small enough that you can actually watch JD's hands. For live music in Los Angeles, that's the sweet spot for a band this technical.

Practical info

  • When: Sunday, October 11. Doors at 7 PM, show at 8 PM. The venue notes that times can change.
  • Ages: All ages, per the venue's listing.
  • Tickets: Sold through Ticketmaster (link above). We couldn't confirm face value, so check the official listing before you buy from resellers.
  • Upgrade: The Bellwether sells an $85 add-on for its Looking Glass Lounge, which opens 30 minutes before the show and stays open through the set. It's subject to availability.
  • Before the show: The Virginian runs a happy hour one hour before doors.

Parking around Boylston fills up on show nights, so rideshare is the low-stress option. It's a Sunday, which means an easier drive in than a Friday and a work morning waiting on the other side. Plan to head out right after the encore.
