LA Phil: Dudamel Leads Prokofiev and Stravinsky, 2027

The Los Angeles Philharmonic and Gustavo Dudamel pair Prokofiev and Stravinsky in a three-performance weekend at Walt Disney Concert Hall in May 2027. If you keep a running list of concerts in Los Angeles worth planning around, this one is easy to mark early, since the dates are already on sale.

When: Friday, May 7, 2027, 8:00 PM; Saturday, May 8, 2:00 PM; Sunday, May 9, 2:00 PM Where: Walt Disney Concert Hall, 111 S Grand Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90012 Tickets: Through Ticketmaster, one page per performance

What to expect

The listing names the program only as Prokofiev and Stravinsky, so the exact works are not confirmed in the source. Both composers wrote some of the most rhythmic and colorful orchestral music of the twentieth century, and an orchestra of this size has plenty of room to show it off. Check the ticket page closer to the date for the final repertoire and any guest soloists.

Dudamel is the conductor listed for the run. Seeing him with the orchestra in Frank Gehry's hall, where the seating wraps around the stage, is a big part of the draw for anyone sampling live music in Los Angeles for the first time.

Picking a performance

The Friday show is an 8:00 PM evening concert, which works for a dinner downtown beforehand. The Saturday and Sunday shows are both 2:00 PM matinees, a better fit if you would rather be home before dark or are bringing family. Each performance has its own Ticketmaster page, so buy the one that matches your day.

Getting there

The hall sits on Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles, a short walk from the Metro stations at Civic Center/Grand Park and Pershing Square. Parking is available in the garages around the Music Center, and rideshare drop-off is along Grand. Arrive early enough to find your seat before the downbeat, since late seating at classical concerts is usually limited to breaks between pieces.

Prices vary by seat and performance and the source lists no figure, so see the ticket pages for current options. The date is far enough out that you have time to plan, and if you are mapping out things to do in Los Angeles around the same weekend, the neighborhood has museums and restaurants within walking distance. More shows downtown are collected on our downtown page and in the concerts category.
