AC Slater Dark Disco at Academy LA, Halloween Weekend

AC Slater is headlining Academy LA on Friday, October 30, the night before Halloween. The flyer bills it as "Dark Disco, Halloween Weekend," with a skull staring out of a mirror ball, so you can guess the mood. If you're lining up LA EDM events for the spookiest weekend of the year, this is a strong way to start it without fighting the Saturday crowds.

AC Slater has been a fixture of the LA bass house scene for well over a decade. He runs the Night Bass label and party, and his sets lean on chunky, rolling basslines with plenty of UK and garage influence mixed in. That sound fits a room like Academy, which has a big system and a dance floor that fills fast on a Friday.

Costumes, doors and age

The club is cashless. Bring a card or use Apple, Google or Samsung Pay at the bar. VIP tables are booked separately through Academy's site if you're coming with a group.

Getting there

Academy LA sits at 6021 Hollywood Blvd, a short walk from the Hollywood/Vine Metro B Line station. The train is the easy call on Halloween weekend, when the boulevard gets crowded and parking lots switch to event pricing. Look up Metro's late-night schedule before counting on a ride home. For rideshare, a pickup spot a block off the boulevard usually beats waiting right out front.
