- Afrobeats to the World
Afrobeats to the World is a touring party brand, and on Friday, October 9, it sets up at Catch One on Pico Boulevard. Doors open at 9 PM and the night runs until 2 AM. The organizers say they've pulled more than 40,000 fans across 30-plus cities, and the LA stop sticks to the same formula: DJs, live performers and a crew of dancers working the floor.
Afrobeats isn't EDM in the festival-mainstage sense. It's a DJ-led dance night built on West African pop, though, and on a Friday when most club calendars are stacked with techno and house, it's one of the more distinct LA EDM events coming up this fall.
What to expect
No lineup has been posted. The Posh listing promises DJs, performers and dancers without naming anyone, so go for the sound and the crowd rather than a specific act. The event page plays Rema's "Baby (Is it a Crime)" as its theme song, which gives you a fair read on the playlist. That's a mood setter, not a booking. Rema isn't billed.
The flyer fills in the rest. It's a green-tinted shot of a packed crowd with arms up and phones out, with "Los Angeles" and "Oct 9th" hand-lettered in yellow. The pitch is openly inclusive, too. In the organizers' own framing, you don't have to be African to belong on this dance floor.
Tickets and entry
Tickets are on Posh, where the listing shows free entry ($0 with fees included) at the time of writing. You still need to claim a ticket there before you go. The page doesn't mention a door option, so don't count on walking up.
The event is strictly 18+, per both the flyer and the ticketing terms, so bring a valid ID. Those terms also say all sales are final and non-refundable. That barely matters on a free ticket, but keep it in mind if paid tiers show up closer to the date.
Getting there
Catch One is at 4067 W Pico Blvd in Mid-City, just east of Crenshaw. The club opened in the early 1970s as Jewel's Catch One, run by Jewel Thais-Williams, and spent decades as a home base for LA's Black and LGBTQ nightlife before reopening under its current name in 2016. A night of Afrobeats fits that history well.
Street parking along Pico and the side streets fills up on Friday nights, so rideshare is the easier call, especially when the lights come up at 2 AM. If you're sorting through things to do in Los Angeles and want a Friday that isn't another bottle-service room, this one costs nothing to try.
