Most people spend Thanksgiving night asleep on a couch. If you'd rather burn off the stuffing at 174 BPM, Andy C is playing Avalon Hollywood on Thursday, November 26. Doors open at 10 p.m., the room runs until 2 a.m., and tickets on TicketWeb start at $24.95. It's 21 and over.

For drum and bass fans, this is one of the stronger LA EDM events on the late-November calendar. Andy C doesn't come through town often, and a holiday Thursday means a lot of the crowd has Friday off.

Who Andy C Is

Andy C has been at the center of UK drum and bass since the early '90s. He co-founded RAM Records, the London label that went on to release a long run of the genre's biggest names. His reputation as a DJ rests on speed. He mixes fast, layers tracks on top of each other, and often works across three decks at once, so you rarely hear one tune play out on its own for long. He has won best DJ at the Drum&BassArena Awards many times over.

If your idea of a club night is a slow four-to-the-floor build, recalibrate. His sets hit hard from the first drop, and the energy stays there.

The Room

Avalon sits at 1735 Vine Street, a block south of Hollywood Boulevard. The building opened in 1927 as a theater and still has the balconies and the high ceiling to prove it. The main floor fills up in front of a big stage, and the upstairs levels give you somewhere to breathe between drops. It's a good fit for bass music: the sound system is built for it and the sightlines are clean from most spots.

Getting there is easy without a car. The Metro B Line stops at Hollywood/Vine, a short walk north of the club. Rideshare drop-off on Vine gets congested around 10 p.m., so meeting your driver a block over on Argyle or Ivar saves time at the end of the night. Street parking is scarce and paid lots nearby charge event rates.
