Bassvictim and Thoom are playing The Novo in downtown Los Angeles on Thursday, September 24. Doors at 8pm. This is the second of two consecutive nights Bassvictim is at The Novo, following a Wednesday show with Dead Butterflies added to the bill.

Bassvictim is Maria Manow and Ike Clateman. The duo built their reputation through a grinding live touring schedule and a sound that sits squarely in heavy bass house, the kind with punishing low-end pressure and enough track selection variety to keep a crowd moving for hours. They've been a fixture on the festival circuit and in club rooms across North America and Europe. Thoom is a producer and DJ whose work runs in similar territory, making this a cohesive double bill rather than a genre mismatch.

The Novo is a 2,300-capacity venue attached to the Staples Center complex, now operating under the Crypto.com Arena umbrella. The room has good sightlines and a sprung floor that works well for dancing. It's a step up from the 600-person club-room circuit and a step below arena scale, which makes it a reasonable slot for artists with dedicated followings who are still building toward headline festival bookings.

Goldenvoice is presenting. The company books a large share of LA's mid-size electronic shows, and their involvement here suggests this is a properly promoted event with professional production.

Getting there is straightforward from most of LA. The venue sits near the intersection of Figueroa and Olympic, a short walk from the Metro Blue Line's Pico station. Parking is available in several structures around the Staples complex but fills up early on event nights. Rideshare drop-off spots are along Olympic.

Tickets start at $43. The show is all ages.
