The Sapphic Raver

Spooky season starts early at Beaches Tropicana. On Thursday, October 8, The Sapphic Raver and The LA Raver host Big Gay Heaven Rave, billed as their first themed gay rave of the year. The concept is angels vs. devils, and you pick a side. If you're hunting for raves in Los Angeles that skew queer and welcoming, this one is built for it.

When: Thursday, October 8, 9:00 PM to 2:00 AM Where: Beaches Tropicana, 8911 Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood Price: Free Age: 21+ (per the event flyer)

What to expect

The first hour is a solo raver mixer. It's designed for people who show up alone and want to meet other queer friends before the floor fills up. If walking into a rave by yourself feels like the hard part, that's the point of it.

Costumes are encouraged but not required. Come in wings, horns, halo glitter or just your regular going-out clothes. The hosts are also giving out devil horns and angel wings to bingo winners, so there's a reason to stay engaged between sets.

The flyer lists four acts: ADAJ, Ariel Brayy, Crux My Heart and Lady Vanity Roux. Set times weren't published, so check the Posh page if you're coming for a particular name. Expect a themed, social night more than a marathon, with the run capped at 2:00 AM on a Thursday.

Getting there

Beaches Tropicana sits on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, in the middle of the city's main nightlife strip. Street parking nearby is tight on weekends and not much better on weeknights, so rideshare or a short walk from a paid lot is the easier plan. Entry is listed as free on Posh, so grab a spot on the event page ahead of time instead of counting on walking in.

Why it's worth it

It's a Thursday, it costs nothing, and it has a clear theme and a built-in way to meet people. Among the things happening in Los Angeles this week, it's a low-pressure entry point for anyone curious about the scene. More listings are on our EDM events page, and this one belongs on any list of EDM in Los Angeles this October.
