Brutalismus 3000 at the Shrine Expo Hall

Brutalismus 3000 touches down at the Shrine Expo Hall on Thursday, November 19, bringing the Harmony US Tour to a room that's hosted plenty of hard-edged electronic nights but rarely one this punk about it. Brutalismus 3000 is a German duo known for slamming hard techno together with a punk sensibility that refuses to sit still. Their records hit harder than most of what passes for techno on a festival main stage, built on distorted low end and a visual identity that leans into brutalist concrete and stark, confrontational artwork. Live, that translates into a set that moves fast and doesn't apologize for the volume.

Support comes stacked four acts deep: Eurohead, OZA, ali rq and deBasement. That's an unusually long undercard for a Thursday, and it points to a promoter building out a full night of the LA scene's harder-edged talent rather than treating the openers as an afterthought. Get there for doors if you want to catch the earlier sets, since a four-act undercard tends to move quickly.

The Venue

The Shrine Expo Hall sits at 665 W. Jefferson Blvd, right next to its sister room the Shrine Auditorium and directly across Jefferson from the USC campus. It's one of the larger rooms in this part of the city, with a history of hosting everything from awards shows to warehouse-scale electronic nights, and the Expo Hall side leans toward the latter. The Metro E Line's Jefferson/USC station is a short walk east, which beats fighting for parking on a campus-adjacent Thursday night.

Getting There

From most of LA, the drive down the 110 or surface streets through USC's edge puts you close in 20 to 40 minutes depending on traffic, and Thursday nights usually move easier than a weekend crowd. If you're coming from the Westside or DTLA, the Expo Line to Jefferson/USC is the simpler option and skips the hunt for street parking around campus entirely.
