Chromeo DJ Set at Avalon Hollywood

Chromeo have spent two decades making funk records that sound like they were pulled out of a 1984 Camaro's tape deck, and on Friday, October 23 they bring that catalog to Avalon Hollywood as a DJ set. Who Chromeo Are

Chromeo is a Montreal duo: Dave 1 on vocals and guitar, P-Thugg on keys, synths and the talk box that gives their songs that robotic, rubbery lead. They've been at it since the early 2000s, and tracks like "Needy Girl," "Fancy Footwork" and "Jealous (I Ain't With It)" still get a reaction the second the intro hits. Their whole thing is sincere love for Zapp, Prince and early-'80s R&B, played with a straight face and a wink at the same time.

The flyer says DJ Set, so don't show up expecting the full live rig with the leg-shaped keyboard stands. Expect the two of them behind the decks, mixing their own songs with the funk, nu-disco and French-touch house that shaped them.
