Freakquencies Halloween at The Hollywood Roosevelt

Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, and Freakquencies has claimed it for The Hollywood Roosevelt. The pitch is a list of numbers: thirteen DJs, six hours, four rooms, two celebrities, one pool, and zero requests. It's easily one of the bigger hotel takeovers on the calendar for EDM in Los Angeles this fall.

What to expect

The flyer is a plain orange-and-black bill that lists the lineup by tier. The Dare and friends sit at the top, followed by Frost Children, Kenny Beats and Tinashe, then a long run of DJs including Dorian Electra, Evilgiane, Harmony Tividad, Johnny Jewel, Ky Newman, ATLgrandma, Avalon, Blaketheman1000, Bianca Lexis and CFCF. It reads more like a nightlife-and-fashion crowd than a festival audience, and the mix of pop, club and left-field names suggests a night that moves between genres instead of locking into one.

The format matters here. Four rooms means you can drift between sets instead of standing in one crowd for six hours, and the pool is part of the setup, so expect the party to spill outdoors. Costumes are the obvious dress code for October 31, and the flyer's 21+ line means everyone inside is an adult.
