Gus Dapperton plays Zebulon on October 29, and if you've been following his arc from bedroom producer to festival headliner, you already know this is one of the fall's better mid-size shows in Los Angeles.
Born Brendan Rice in Warwick, New York, Dapperton spent the years before his breakout meticulously crafting a sound that doesn't fit cleanly into any single box. Analog synths, reverb-soaked vocals, and arrangements that shift between intimate and expansive have been his calling cards since the 2017 debut EP Yellow and Such. His full-length Where Polly People Go to Read (2019) sharpened that formula, and his feature on BENEE's "Supalonely" introduced him to an audience that measured in the tens of millions. His 2021 record Orca pushed further into baroque pop territory, filling out the sonic palette with strings and layered harmonies.
The show lands at Zebulon, the Fletcher Drive venue that's become one of Silver Lake's most reliable rooms for exactly this kind of artist. It's a converted warehouse space with decent sight lines from almost anywhere on the floor, a sound system that handles both electronic and organic instrumentation well, and no bad spots if you're willing to arrive early. The room fits a few hundred people, which means a Dapperton set here will feel close in a way that festival stages don't allow.
Tickets are $34.77 through DICE. Doors open at 8 p.m., with the show running until 11 p.m. If you're coming from outside Silver Lake, the 2 freeway drops you close, and street parking along Fletcher and the surrounding blocks is workable on a Thursday night. Rideshare drop-off on Fletcher is straightforward.
LA EDM events and indie-electronic shows pull from across the city, but Zebulon draws a crowd that tends to already know the artist. Expect a floor that's engaged and attentive rather than a casual background-listening situation. Dapperton's live sets in recent years have leaned heavily on newer material while keeping the early fan favorites in rotation.
