I Hate Models: Disco Inferno at City Market

I Hate Models is bringing Disco Inferno, the name of his own label, to City Market in downtown Los Angeles on Saturday, November 7. The show runs from 5pm to 11pm and it's 21 and over. The flyer is a poster wheatpasted onto a concrete wall, which fits the sound. This is fast, dark, emotional techno from one of the French producers who pushed the harder side of the genre back to the center of the scene.

The lineup

The Insomniac page lists I Hate Models with Lammer, and the flyer and tags add Materielle. Insomniac files the night under techno, Eurodance and trance, and that's a good summary of an I Hate Models set, which regularly pulls 90s trance melodies and rave stabs into pounding techno. Lammer and Materielle are both part of that newer wave of techno DJs who aren't afraid of speed. Set times weren't posted when we checked.

Tickets

Tickets weren't on general sale when we looked on September 24. The Insomniac event page linked to a presale sign-up instead, so sign up there to get the code and the on-sale time. Techno shows at City Market have sold out their early tiers quickly in the past, so the presale is worth doing. We'll add the price once it's public.

The venue

City Market is at 1057 San Pedro Street, in the market district south of the Fashion District. It's a bare warehouse-style space that Insomniac uses for its downtown techno nights, which suits a headliner like this. Plan on rideshare or a walk from the Metro A and E Lines. The 11pm finish is early for a techno night, but it means you can get home on transit.
