Krewella at Academy Nightclub

Krewella plays Academy Nightclub in Hollywood on Friday, January 22, 2027, running from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. Tickets are $23 via Tixr.

The Act

Jahan and Yasmine Moufarrej formed Krewella in Chicago, and the duo's career has run through several phases since their early 2010s breakthrough. They started as a trio with a producer, built a following with big room drops and festival-sized bangers, then shed the producer and continued as a two-piece that handles the music production themselves.

Their recent work runs harder and less polished than the early records, in a direction that suits the club format better. Electro house, trap influences, and the kind of maximalist production decisions that work at volume in a room like Academy. They've kept the fan base while moving toward a sound that's less dependent on the festival-main-stage context.

Live, Krewella shows tend to involve some live vocal performance in addition to the DJ and production elements, which gives the performance a slightly different texture than a straight DJ set.

The Venue

Academy Nightclub is at 6021 Hollywood Blvd, right in the center of Hollywood. It's a 1,400-capacity club across two rooms, with a production setup designed for touring electronic acts. The sound system handles the low end well, which matters for the kind of music Krewella plays.

Hollywood on a Friday night is always busy. The surrounding blocks have parking structures and metered street parking. Metro Red/Purple Line stops at Hollywood/Highland and Hollywood/Vine, both within walking distance.
