Lenny Pearce plays The Wiltern on Wednesday, October 28, and the crowd will be a lot shorter than usual. Pearce is an Australian producer, DJ and dad who calls what he makes "toddler techno": nursery rhymes and kids' classics rebuilt as big dancefloor tracks. Doors open at 5pm and the show starts at 6pm, which makes it the only one of this month's LA EDM events that's over before dinner. His own tagline for the tour says it plainly: "Big beats. Little feet. Home before bedtime."

Who Lenny Pearce is

It started as a side project. Pearce remixed children's songs for his daughter, and then his techno version of "Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes" took off online and got away from him. He now has more than 3 million followers across social platforms. He's worked with Nickelodeon, Hasbro, Blippi, Paw Patrol, Warner Brothers and The Wiggles.

The Toddler Rave World Tour follows sold-out runs in Australia, Asia, the Middle East, the UK and North America. This fall's US and Canada leg puts him in bigger rooms than he's played before. LA comes one night after the Fox Theater in Oakland.

What to expect

Picture a club night scaled down to knee height. There are glow sticks, confetti drops and singalongs, and costumed characters like Kuma the Monkey and Bubbles the Duck work the crowd. Ticketmaster files the show under dance/electronic, and the promoters pitch it as festival energy for families. Pearce's own FAQ says the set runs about 60 minutes with no intermission. That's roughly the length of a two-year-old's good mood.

Depending on the room, the effects can include haze, smoke machines, colored lights, confetti and balloons. If your kid is sensitive to noise or bright light, the FAQ says headphones and sunglasses are welcome. Photos and video are allowed, too.

Most raves in Los Angeles don't open their doors until hours after this one ends. For the under-five crowd, that's the whole appeal.

Tickets and practical info

Where: The Wiltern, 3790 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90010

Tickets: Ticketmaster

The listing says all ages are welcome and every person needs a ticket, whatever their age. That covers parents, and it covers babies. Pearce's general FAQ says some venues let kids under 12 months in free on a lap, but The Wiltern's rule is the one that counts here. There's a six-ticket limit on the event. VIP and meet-and-greet packages add early entry, a merch gift and a photo with Lenny, and Ticketmaster sells them through the night of October 21.

Pack the diaper bag with the bag policy in mind. Bags up to 12" x 6" x 12" are allowed, every bag gets searched, and bags that aren't clear get an extra look. The Wiltern is cashless everywhere except the box office, which opens two hours before doors.

There's an accessible section on the floor, to the left of the stage, with a ramp on the left side of the theater doors. The loge and mezzanine are stairs only, so keep that in mind if you're carrying a sleepy kid.

Getting there

The Wiltern sits at Wilshire and Western in Koreatown, directly above the Wilshire/Western station on the Metro D Line. At 5pm on a weekday, the train beats Wilshire traffic easily. If you drive, the venue sends people to the Ralphs parking structure next door: enter from Oxford Street through the north entrance, not the Ralphs entrance. Ticketmaster also sells a separate parking pass for this show.

For more electronic shows, see the EDM page, or find more things to do in Los Angeles on the Los Angeles neighborhood page. The show is done by about 7pm, which leaves time for a bath and bed.
