If you are building a list of EDM in Los Angeles for the holiday stretch, this one lands a week before Christmas, which makes it a good last big night out before travel and family obligations take over.

What to expect

Academy LA is a multi-room club on Hollywood Boulevard, built for dance floor nights rather than seated shows. Marten Horger is the billed headliner, and the venue lists Special Guest DJ Susan alongside two supporting acts, Gold Lemonade and Dayze. The listing does not publish set times, so plan to arrive near doors if you want to catch the openers, and expect the main room to fill as the night goes on.

This is a club night, not a daytime festival. The crowd tends to be there for the music and the sound system, and the 21+ rule means you should bring a valid ID.

Getting there

Academy LA sits in the middle of Hollywood, among the many things happening in Hollywood on any given weekend. Street parking on Hollywood Boulevard is scarce and metered, and nearby garages fill up on busy nights, so most people are better off using a rideshare for the drop-off and pickup. Friday traffic through the neighborhood is heavy, so leave extra time. If you want to make a night of it, there are plenty of late-night food spots within walking distance for before or after the show.
