Nicky Romero plays Academy LA on Friday, October 2. For anyone who came up on festival-era big room, that's a name worth clearing a Friday for, and it's one of the more recognizable club bookings on the calendar of LA EDM events this fall.
Romero is the Dutch DJ and producer behind Protocol Recordings, and he's spent more than a decade on main stages around the world. A lot of people know him from "I Could Be the One," his 2012 collaboration with Avicii. Seeing him in a nightclub is a different thing from catching him at a festival, though. You're on a packed floor a few feet from the booth instead of squinting at a stage from the back of a field.
Academy's event page lists him alone on the bill, with no support acts announced as of this writing. Check the venue page closer to the date in case openers get added.
The details
Doors open at 10 PM PDT, and the night is strictly 21 and over. Academy sits at 6021 Hollywood Blvd, a block of the boulevard that stays busy well past midnight on a Friday. The flyer puts the headliner front and center with the same info: 10 PM, 21+, Academy LA.
The venue is cashless. Bring a credit or debit card, or use Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay. Cash won't help you at the bar.
Tickets
Academy is blunt about this: it has no connection to StubHub, Vivid Seats, Eventbrite or any other reseller, and tickets bought from those sites won't get you in. The only valid tickets come through TicketWeb and, in some cases, Tixr. Your government-issued ID also has to match the name on the ticket, so buying a friend's spare isn't a plan. All sales are final.
We couldn't confirm a ticket price from the listing, so check TicketWeb for current tiers. Academy also takes VIP table reservations through its event page if you're rolling in with a group.
Getting there
The Hollywood/Vine Metro B Line station is a short walk east along the boulevard, which beats hunting for parking on a Friday night. If you do drive, expect event pricing at the surface lots nearby. For the ride home, walking a block off Hollywood Blvd to meet your rideshare usually saves a lot of time once the club lets out.
If you're building a weekend around it, browse our other EDM Los Angeles picks or the full list of Things Happening In Hollywood. There's usually something else worth catching on the same few blocks.
