Mehdi Benjelloun was a teenager in Rennes when he put "Sunset Lover" online in 2015. The track, a soft guitar loop over a slow, shuffling beat, went on to rack up hundreds of millions of streams and made Petit Biscuit one of the more recognizable names in melodic electronic music. On Saturday, October 17, he headlines Avalon Hollywood with Forester as the special guest. For anyone tracking LA EDM events this fall, it's a rare chance to hear his music in a proper club instead of a festival tent.

The Night

The show is an Orlove By Night production. Doors open at 10 p.m. and the room is strictly 21 and over, so bring a valid ID. The flyer lists no set times yet. Check the venue page closer to the date if you want to time your arrival around the headliner.

Petit Biscuit's catalog leans warm and emotional rather than heavy. His debut album Presence came out in 2017, and a lot of his live material builds on that sound: layered vocals, plucked guitar, drums that swell and drop back out. It plays differently at Avalon. The big room has real low end, so the quieter moments hit harder when the kick comes back in.

Forester opens. Show up early and you'll catch a set that shares the headliner's taste for melody over pure bangers, which makes it a good warm-up for the crowd.

The Venue

Avalon sits at 1735 Vine St, across the street from the Capitol Records Building. The building opened in 1927 as a theater, and the balconies still wrap around the main floor. That gives you a choice: get close to the booth, or head upstairs and look down on the whole room. Ask around about the best rooms for EDM Los Angeles has, and Avalon comes up fast, mostly because of the sound system.

Getting There

Tickets are sold through TicketWeb. We couldn't confirm a price from the ticket page, so check the link before you plan your night. Parking around Hollywood and Vine fills up fast on a Saturday, and paid lots nearby can get expensive. The Metro B Line stops at Hollywood/Vine, about a block from the door, which is the easiest way in if you're staying late. Rideshare pickup on Vine gets crowded after the show, so walking a block or two before you call a car will save you some time.
