He's spent most of the last decade arguing that hard trap deserves to be taken seriously as its own genre rather than a subfolder of dubstep, and his sets make the case better than any interview does. Halftime drums, 808s tuned low enough to move your ribs, and drops that arrive without much warning. He mixes dubstep in too, which keeps the tempo from flattening out over a long set. If you've heard him at Beyond Wonderland or on a Lost Lands undercard, you know the shape of it.

Exchange sits at 618 S Spring Street in the old Los Angeles Stock Exchange building, and the architecture is half the appeal. The main floor is the former trading hall, with a ceiling high enough that the sound has real room to open up, plus mezzanine levels that ring the floor if you want a break from the crowd. Funktion-One rig. It hits hard on bass music specifically.

Practical notes: the Metro B and D Lines stop at Pershing Square, three blocks north, and the last northbound trains leave around 1 AM, so plan a ride home if you're staying to close. Parking structures on Spring and Main run $20 to $40 on a Friday. The venue is 21 and over with ID checked at the door, and the line on Spring Street gets long after 11 PM. Get there early if you bought a lower tier.
