SIDEPIECE Open-Air Block Party on Vine in Hollywood

SIDEPIECE are taking over a stretch of Vine Street on Saturday, October 3, for an open-air Insomniac block party in the middle of Hollywood. It's a daytime-into-night house party, 5 PM to 11 PM, and it's one of the more fun-looking LA EDM events on the October calendar because it isn't in a club at all.

SIDEPIECE is the house duo of Party Favor and Dillon Francis. Both came up in bigger, bass-heavy corners of dance music before landing on the groovy, tech-leaning house they play together, and their collaboration with Diplo, "On My Mind," picked up a Grammy nomination. Expect a set built for singing along to hooks, not for staring at your shoes.

Maesic is billed as the main special guest. Front Gate's event page also lists Pitch Black and Durden Lane on the undercard, so getting there near the 5 PM start means you'll catch the warm-up sets while it's still light out.

Tickets and entry

General admission is already gone. Front Gate lists the final GA tier ($70 plus fees, $78.46 total) as sold out. VIP was still on sale at the time of writing for $124.61 with fees, and it includes expedited entry, VIP bathrooms, VIP bars with cocktails and a VIP viewing area. At an outdoor show with a single line, that faster entry actually matters.

It's 21 and over, so bring a real ID. Buy through Insomniac's Front Gate link rather than a reseller: a ticket from a random site is the easiest way to spend your Saturday standing on the sidewalk.

Getting there

The address is 1749 N Vine St., a short walk north of Hollywood and Vine. The Metro B Line stop at Hollywood/Vine is right there, which makes this about as transit-friendly as EDM Los Angeles gets. If you're taking a rideshare home at 11 PM, walk a block or two off Vine before you request a car. Hollywood traffic on a Saturday night is slow, and pickup right at the gate will be chaos.

It's outdoors in early October, so the late afternoon can still be warm while 10 PM gets cool. Bring a light layer you don't mind tying around your waist.
