Most nights out in this city make you pick: go hear music, go see art, or go listen to poets. Sight + Sound + Soul, Vol 1 puts all three in one room. On Friday, November 13, a DJ, a VJ and a group of poets share the floor at Pacific Opera Project for an evening built around spontaneous collaboration. If you keep a list of things to do in Los Angeles that don't look like every other Friday, add this one.

When: Friday, November 13, 2026, 7 PM to 11 PM Where: Pacific Opera Project, 125 South Avenue 57, Los Angeles, CA 90042 Price: $15 Presented by: Moving Image Arts and EAR Events

What to expect

The organizers call it a multimedia performance, a reception and an open mic, and the poster sums up the format as words, beats and images. Poets read live while a DJ shapes the sound around them and a VJ projects visuals that react in the moment. Nothing here is a fixed set list. The point is the improvisation between the three.

The listing from 19hz tags the night with lofi house, hip-hop, UK garage and afrobeats, so expect the music to lean groovy and warm rather than peak-hour loud. That makes it a gentler entry point to EDM in Los Angeles than a warehouse night, and a good fit if you like electronic sounds but want to actually hear the lyrics. Names on the event page include Donato Martinez, Carlos Ornelas, Alejandra Roggero and Taylor Betancourt of Alt Tab Visuals.

The open mic is the other draw. If you write or perform, the evening leaves room for you to step up, and the reception lets you meet the artists afterward.

Getting there

Pacific Opera Project sits on South Avenue 57 in the northeast part of the city. The organizers say there are two metered city lots next door and that street parking is a bit of a walk, so they strongly encourage arriving early. Doors and the program start in the early evening, and the show runs until about 11 PM.

Tickets start at $15 through Eventbrite. Check the event page for the current price tiers before you go, since the listing can change as the date gets closer.

Plan the weekend

Friday the 13th gives the date a little extra charm. If you are mapping out LA events this weekend, this is a low-key, creative way to start it, and it pairs easily with dinner nearby beforehand. For more electronic and music nights across the city, browse our EDM category and the wider events page.
