First Semester College Function in Downtown LA

The semester is a few weeks old, midterms are coming, and somebody has decided this is the right moment for a party. On Saturday, October 10, SoldOutSaturdaysLA and WeTheDream Ent throw the First Semester College Function in Downtown Los Angeles, billed as an all-black college night. Doors open at 11 p.m. and tickets are $12.99.

If you are scanning LA events this weekend for something that skews young and loud, this one is aimed squarely at students. The promoters are inviting crowds from CSUN, USC, CSUDH, LMU, CSULA, CSULB, Cal Poly Pomona and other campuses around the region, so expect a room that mixes schools rather than one campus crowd.

When: Saturday, October 10, doors at 11 p.m. Where: Downtown Los Angeles (exact address sent to ticket holders) Price: $12.99 on Posh Age: 18+ with valid ID

What to Expect

The dress code is the hook: wear your best all black. The flyer leans into a house-party look, red cups and a big chrome headline, and the format is a standard late-night DJ party with a dance floor and a packed room. The promoter's listing describes it as one of the bigger college functions in the city.

Lineup details are worth confirming before you go. The listing text and the flyer do not name the same DJ, so check the Posh page or the @soldoutsaturdaysla account for the final set times and who is behind the decks.

Getting There

The venue is listed only as Downtown Los Angeles. The flyer says to text "WTD" to the number printed on it to get the address, so plan on getting it ahead of time rather than driving downtown and hoping to follow a crowd. Downtown parking on a Saturday night can be tight and pricey, so a rideshare or the Metro into the area is the easier call, especially for a night that runs past 2 a.m.

Bring a government-issued photo ID. The age policy is 18+ and the listing is clear that valid ID is required at the door, so no ID means no entry, whatever your ticket says.

Tickets and Planning

Tickets are sold through Posh at $12.99, and the price may move as the night gets closer, so buy early if you are set on going. If you are building a plan out of things to do in Los Angeles this month, a $13 ticket is a low-cost way to get a late night out with friends from other campuses.
