Soulwax lands at the Fonda Theatre on September 18, 2026 for what promises to be one of the more punishing electronic shows of the fall season. The Belgian duo, made up of brothers David and Stephen Dewaele, has spent the better part of two decades pushing club music through a rock and roll wringer, and their live sets reflect that. Expect synthesizers, drum machines, and sequencers running hot from the first note.
The Fonda, tucked into Hollywood's strip of music venues on Hollywood Boulevard, fits the act well. It holds around 1,200 people, which keeps the room tight enough that the bass hits with force but big enough to draw a real crowd. General admission standing puts you close to the action. The venue has decent bars on both levels and doors typically open an hour before showtime.
Soulwax got their start as an indie rock band in Ghent in the late 1990s, but the project shifted direction after their 2-Many-DJs side hustle took off. The DJ alias they share found a devoted following through bootleg mixes and a documentary, but the Soulwax live project is something else. It's built around their studio albums, particularly "Nite Versions" (2005), which stripped their songs down to raw electronic edits, and more recent records like "From Deewee" (2017), which was recorded live in a single session.
Their shows tend to run longer than the standard DJ set and hit harder than most live electronic acts. The sequencing is meticulous. The sound design is sharp. If you've seen them before, you know the set builds toward a kind of controlled chaos that most artists on a festival stage never reach. If you haven't, this is a good first introduction in a room that's the right size for the material.
Tickets are on sale through AXS and Ticketmaster. The Fonda is at 6126 Hollywood Blvd, a short walk from the Hollywood/Vine Metro station on the B Line. Street parking in the area is limited on weekends, so the Metro or a rideshare drop will save you the hunt. The venue does not allow re-entry after exit.
