Chicago's That's So Y2K series has been packing rooms with 2000s nostalgia since it launched, and this Thursday it makes its Los Angeles debut at Blind Barber Highland Park. Entry is free, the show starts at 9 PM, and it runs until 2 AM. You do need to be 21 or older to get in.

The format is simple: DJs spin the full spectrum of 2000s radio. Pop hits from the era, hip-hop and R&B staples, emo anthems, and the club bangers that closed out every house party get equal time. The organizers describe it as the soundtrack of "the era that raised us," and they mean the whole era, not just the top 40. If you spent any part of your teenage years flipping through Limewire results or watching TRL after school, this is the playlist you were building in your head.

Blind Barber Highland Park sits at 5715 N Figueroa Street in the heart of Highland Park, which has become one of the more reliably lively corridors in northeast LA for nightlife. The bar has an easy neighborhood feel, close to the Metro L Line's Highland Park station if you're coming from Downtown or Pasadena and want to skip the parking situation entirely.

Free entry on a Thursday night, no cover, full bar. The organizers typically throw a few crowd moments into the mix alongside the DJ sets, so it tends to feel more like a party than a club night. If you want a table or preferred entry, check the Posh page for reserved options.

This is the kind of event where dressing the part is more than optional. Y2K fashion peaked somewhere between low-rise everything, Von Dutch hats, and velour tracksuits, and the crowd at these parties usually leans into it. Nobody will stop you for showing up in regular clothes, but half the fun is seeing who went all the way.

Doors open at 9 PM on September 17. The night wraps at 2 AM. No cover, 21+, at Blind Barber Highland Park.
