Time Warp, the German techno festival that has been running in Mannheim since the 1990s, is coming to Los Angeles for the first time. The debut edition runs on Friday, November 27 and Saturday, November 28, at Ace*Mission Studios. Hours are 2pm to 2am both days, and it's 21 and over. Insomniac is producing the LA edition with the Time Warp team.

Time Warp's own page sets the tone: "Los Angeles doesn't get a spin-off. It gets the core experience." The festival is opening up never-before-used warehouses at Ace*Mission for what it calls "pure house and techno," with three stages across the two days.

The lineup

The alphabetical lineup on the Time Warp site includes Richie Hawtin, Ben Klock, The Martinez Brothers, Loco Dice, Tiga, Rødhåd, HAAi, Luuk van Dijk, Funk Tribu, Novah, East End Dubs and SOSA. There are also back-to-backs: Dennis Ferrer b2b Skream, Blawan b2b Elli Acula, Gerd Janson b2b Julya Karma, Quest b2b Ryan Elliott, D.Dan b2b Freddy K and Heidi Lawden b2b Masha Mar. It's a heavyweight bill for a first year, and a good sign of how seriously the festival is taking LA.

Tickets

Tickets are on Front Gate, and the price includes taxes and fees. On September 24 the 2-day GA pass was at Tier 5, $179.99. The 2-Day Stage Access pass, which is the Time Warp version of an up-close viewing area, was $599.99 at Tier 3 and $649.99 at Tier 4. Tiers refer only to price, and tiers that aren't shown have sold out. Layaway is available at checkout.

The venue

Ace*Mission Studios is at 516 South Mission Road, on the eastern edge of downtown by the LA River near the Boyle Heights line. It's a film-studio complex, and Time Warp is using warehouses there that haven't hosted a music event before. Plan on rideshare. The Metro E Line's Pico/Aliso stop is the closest station.

For more techno this month, see I Hate Models and Eli Brown at City Market, plus Carl Cox at the Palladium. Richie Hawtin also plays Escape Halloween. See the EDM category page and the downtown listings.
