Two Friends are Matt Halper and Eli Sones, and they've been LA kids the whole way through. So a hometown show billed as Once Upon A Time In Los Angeles carries some weight. On Friday, October 23, Insomniac puts the duo in the Hollywood Palladium from 8 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. If you've been sorting through LA EDM events for the fall, this one sits near the top of the pile.
The flyer frames it as a two-night run on October 23 and 24. This post covers the Friday show. Saturday has its own listing and a different support act.
Who's on the Bill
Friday's flyer lists Two Friends, then Avello, then a second Two Friends slot marked as a bass set, with more acts still TBA. That last detail is the one to plan around. The duo usually plays bright, singalong house and pop edits. A bass set is heavier and louder, and a lot of fans will only catch it this once.
If you only know them from Big Bootie Mix, the long-running mashup series, expect a crowd that knows every drop. Their own songs tend to have real hooks, and at the Palladium the floor sings along.
The Room
The Palladium has been on Sunset since 1940. It's a big art deco hall with a wide dance floor and a balcony ringing the back. Sightlines are good nearly everywhere, and it holds a few thousand people without feeling like an arena. For EDM Los Angeles fans, it's the step up from club rooms before you're out on a festival field.
Practical Details
- When: Friday, October 23, 8 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
- Where: Hollywood Palladium, 6215 Sunset Blvd. Los Angeles 90028
- Age: 21 and over, per Insomniac
- Tickets: through Ticketmaster. Neither source listed a price when we checked, so check the ticket page before you plan a budget.
Street parking around the Palladium fills up fast on show nights. The Metro B Line's Hollywood/Vine station is about a ten-minute walk, and rideshare pickup gets messy right at close, so walk a block or two off Sunset before calling a car. Bring ID. The door checks it, and you'll get turned away without one.
Why Go
Weekend plans in October fill up fast, and this is one of the easier calls on the list of things to do in Los Angeles that month. You get a hometown act and a set format that isn't their usual one. The venue is a good one, too. Browse more nights like it in our EDM section.
