Two Friends at the Hollywood Palladium, Saturday

Saturday is the second half of Once Upon A Time In Los Angeles, the two-night hometown run Insomniac built around Two Friends. On Saturday, October 24, Matt Halper and Eli Sones take the Hollywood Palladium again, 8 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Friday gets its own post. The Throwback Set

The flyer lists three things for October 24: Two Friends, MC4D, and a second Two Friends slot labeled throwback set. More acts are still marked TBA.

That throwback slot is the reason to pick Saturday. The duo have been releasing music and running the Big Bootie Mix mashup series for well over a decade. A set pulled from the older catalog means the songs people found them with, not just this year's edits. Expect a lot of phones up when the early stuff lands.

The headline set should look more like a regular Two Friends show: house built around pop hooks, big vocal moments and mashups that jump genres without warning. Insomniac tags the night as electronic, house and pop, which is a fair summary.

MC4D fills the other named slot. Insomniac hasn't said more about the running order yet, so check the event page closer to the date if you want to time your arrival.

The Venue

The Palladium opened on Sunset in 1940 as a big band ballroom. It's still one big room with a wide floor, a balcony at the back and an art deco front that looks great at night. It holds a few thousand people, so a sold-out show feels packed without feeling far away. For EDM Los Angeles crowds, it's where acts land once they've outgrown club rooms.

Friday or Saturday?

If you can only do one night, the throwback set makes Saturday the one for longtime fans. Friday has a bass set, which suits people who like it heavier.
