Wooli is bringing his own show, Mammoth Park, to Los Angeles on Saturday, December 5, and Bassrush is staging it outdoors on the South Lawn at Exposition Park. Doors are at 5pm, the music wraps at 11pm, and it's 18 and over. If you track LA EDM events for the heavy end of the spectrum, this is the big dubstep date on the December calendar.

The lineup

Wooli headlines, and Mammoth Park is his own branded night. The flyer shows a small mammoth walking through a giant stone gate lined with tusked towers, which tells you roughly what kind of stage theme to expect.

Under him, the flyer lists a secret guest, then Layz, Grabbitz and Jaenga. Nobody has said who the secret guest is yet. Three named supports on a lawn show this size means an early arrival actually pays off. Insomniac files the whole thing under dubstep, so plan on wobble, big drops and a lot of low end rattling across the lawn.

Tickets

Front Gate is the ticket seller. When we checked on September 26, the first three general admission tiers ($65.13, $70.26 and $75.38) were already sold out. The final general admission tier was $80.51, which is $70 plus $10.51 in fees. VIP Tier 1 had also sold out, and VIP Tier 2 was $126.67 and 21 and over. VIP covers expedited entry, VIP bathrooms, VIP bars with cocktails and a VIP viewing area. Front Gate says every price shown includes taxes and fees, and that tiers only refer to pricing, so buying earlier gets you the same ticket for less.

Insomniac's own event page links to the same checkout. Stick with that link instead of resale sites.

Getting there

Exposition Park sits at 700 Exposition Park Dr., just south of USC and next to the Natural History Museum and the California Science Center. The Metro E Line stops at Expo Park/USC and Expo/Vermont, both a short walk from the South Lawn, and that's the easiest way in and out on a show night. There are paid lots around the park, but expect them to fill and get slow at 11pm when everyone leaves at once. Rideshare pickup around Figueroa and Exposition gets crowded too, so walking a few blocks before calling a car helps.

December nights in LA drop into the 50s after sunset, and this is an open-air lawn show. Bring a layer you won't mind tying around your waist. Check Insomniac's site for the bag policy before you head out, and keep your ID handy since the 18+ rule is enforced at the gate.

Why it's worth the trip

Most dubstep shows in town happen inside warehouses and clubs. This one puts a full headliner production on grass under the sky, with a themed stage and a mystery set on the bill. It's easily one of the better things to do in Los Angeles that weekend if you like your bass loud.
