Every October, Manhattan Heights Park turns into a neighborhood midway. The 38th Annual Halloween Carnival lands on Saturday, October 24, 2026, and it is built for kids from 2 to 15. If you are sorting through things to do with kids LA offers before Halloween night, this one packs games, a parade and snacks into a single afternoon.
When: Saturday, October 24, 2026, 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM Where: Manhattan Heights Park Price: $20 carnival bracelet per participant (subject to change) Organizer: Manhattan Beach Parks & Rec
What to expect
The carnival centers on carnival games, many of them built by participants and staff from the REC Program and Teen Center. The Teen Center also runs a haunted house, so the older kids have something spooky to line up for. Around the park you will find face painting, cookie decorating, a Halloween craft, snow cones and a cupcake walk with treats from SusieCakes.
The costume contest and parade takes place on the baseball field. Each group lines up behind the balloons for its category so staff can check you in. Arrive 15 minutes early, because the parade starts at 1:00 PM sharp and prizes are handed out right after it.
Younger children are welcome, but anyone under 5 must stay with an adult at all times. Events, attractions and costs can change without notice, and prizes are given while supplies last.
Tickets and costs
Each child taking part is encouraged to buy a bracelet for $20. It covers unlimited access to the activities, except the ones marked with an asterisk on the listing (face painting, the cupcake walk, cookie decorating and the craft), which are limited to one ticket each per bracelet. Extra activity tickets cost $2 each. Bracelets are valid from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM, so you can arrive for the parade and keep playing after it.
Tips for going
- Dress the whole family up. The costume parade is the centerpiece, and it is a fun afternoon even for the youngest trick-or-treaters.
- Bring a little extra cash or plan on the $2 add-on tickets if your kids want a second round of a favorite booth.
- Check in early for the parade. Late arrivals risk missing their category.
- Wear comfortable shoes. Much of the day is spent on grass and the ball field.
Getting there
Manhattan Heights Park is in the South Bay. Plan for neighborhood street parking and give yourself a few extra minutes, since families will be arriving for the 1:00 PM parade.
