Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live

If your kid has a shoebox full of die-cast cars, this one's easy. Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live brings its Glow-N-Fire tour to Long Beach Arena on Saturday, October 3, and it's about as literal a translation of the toy aisle as you'll find. For parents hunting for things to do with kids LA can actually deliver on a fall weekend, a morning of giant trucks and fire is hard to argue with.

The trucks

The lineup reads like a toy catalog. Bigfoot is there, the name most grown-ups will recognize. So are Mega Wrex, Tiger Shark, HW 5-Alarm and Bone Shaker, plus Skelesaurus, the skeleton-dinosaur truck. This year's tour adds a newcomer called Rhinomite, a rhino-themed truck that the promoters describe as charging in horn-first. If your kid owns the 1:64 version of any of these, expect a lot of pointing.

The "Glow" part of the name is literal. The tour runs the trucks with light strips outlined along the bodies, so they read as neon shapes against a dark arena floor. The photo above is HW 5-Alarm from a 2025 stop on this same tour, lit up like a fire engine drawn in marker.

Beyond the trucks

Monster trucks aren't the only act. FMX riders (freestyle motocross) take the floor between truck runs, launching dirt bikes off ramps and doing tricks in the air. Then there's the robot dinosaur, which breathes fire and crushes cars. That's the "Fire" half of the title, and it tends to be the part younger kids talk about on the drive home.

Fair warning for sensitive ears: engines, pyro and a cheering arena add up to real volume. Plenty of families bring kid-sized ear protection to shows like this, and it's worth packing a pair.

Practical info

  • When: Saturday, October 3, 2026. The Discover Los Angeles listing gives an 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. window, so check your ticket for the exact show time.
  • Where: Long Beach Arena, 300 E. Ocean Blvd. in downtown Long Beach, next to the convention center and a few blocks from the waterfront.
  • Tickets: Sold through Ticketmaster, linked from the Discover Los Angeles event page. Prices weren't listed on the listing we checked.

Coming from LA proper, the Metro A Line ends at Downtown Long Beach Station, a short walk from the arena. That saves you from fighting for convention-center parking with a car full of excited kids. If you drive, give yourself extra time, since downtown Long Beach garages fill up fast on event days.

It's a strong pick if you're sorting through family events Los Angeles has on the calendar in early October and want something loud, bright and very easy to explain to a five-year-old. For more ideas, browse our family events or the full list of what's happening around Los Angeles. The new Rhinomite truck is the one to watch for, since this tour is its first time out.
