Halloween night in the South Bay has a favorite address: Riviera Village in Redondo Beach. Each year thousands of kids fill Catalina Avenue for a safe, outdoor, candy-powered evening, and the 2026 edition lands on Saturday, October 31. If you're collecting things to do with kids LA families can actually enjoy without a car-seat shuffle or a haunted-house line, this one belongs on the list.

When: Saturday, October 31, 2026, 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM Where: Catalina Avenue, Riviera Village, Redondo Beach (Avenue I to S Elena St) Candy: Handed out until 6 PM, while supplies last

What to expect

Catalina Avenue is closed to traffic from Avenue I to S Elena St, so kids can wander the middle of the street without worrying about cars. Shops along the strip hand out candy and treats outdoors, which turns the whole village into one long trick-or-treat route. Costumes are the dress code, and the open street makes it easy for strollers, wagons and small superheroes to share the space.

The organizers note that the street closure has been extended to 8 PM, while the candy itself is given out until 6 PM or until shops run out. Plan your route accordingly: arrive earlier in the window if the candy haul is the main goal, and save the later hours for strolling, photos and dinner.

Make an evening of it

Riviera Village is full of restaurants, so there's an easy option for a sit-down meal before or after the loop. It's one of the more relaxed kids activities LA has on Halloween weekend, and it works for toddlers as well as older kids who just want the candy. If you're scanning LA events this weekend for something low-key and free of ticket drama, a walk down this street fits.

Parking and getting there

The village has ample parking in the "triangle parking lot" between Avenida Del Norte and S Elena Street, plus spots along the individual streets. Cashless paid parking for the Halloween events is available at Plaza Riviera (1611 S Catalina Ave), at the corner of Catalina and Avenue I. The organizers recommend Apple Pay or Google Pay and following the garage's directions for the fastest processing. A paid lot at Mira Mar Park, 201 Paseo de la Playa in Redondo Beach, sits about two blocks away.

Expect crowds, especially around the middle of the window. Arriving a little early, wearing comfortable shoes and keeping a bag handy for the haul makes the evening smoother. For details and any last-minute changes, check the official listing on Local Anchor before you go.
