The Porter Ranch Branch Library has another Small Group Storytime on the calendar for Wednesday, November 18. It is the latest in a weekly run of sessions at this branch: a few picture books, a song or two, and a circle small enough that the reader can learn every child's name. For parents collecting kids activities LA offers on an ordinary weekday, it is an easy one to pencil in.
We found this session on the L.A. Parent events calendar. Porter Ranch sits in the far northwest corner of the San Fernando Valley, up against the Santa Susana foothills, and its library branch is part of the Los Angeles Public Library system.
What a Small Group Feels Like
A packed storytime can be chaos: thirty toddlers, one rug, and a librarian reading over the noise. A smaller circle changes the pace. The reader can pause on a page and ask who spotted the dog hiding under the table, then wait for the shyest kid to point. Children who have never done a group activity tend to settle in faster here.
Families who have been coming since the fall will notice their kids know the routine by now. They clap along to the opening song and sit through one more book than they did in the first week.
The branch has not posted a book list for this date. Mid-November sometimes means stories about falling leaves, harvest food or getting cozy as the weather turns, but that is a guess, not a promise.
Before You Go
When: Wednesday, November 18, 2026
Where: Porter Ranch Branch Library, 11371 Tampa Ave, Porter Ranch
The listing gives the date and the branch. It does not give a start time, an age range, a price or any registration details. Most library storytimes are free, but we could not confirm that here, so check before you count on it. Because the group is small, arriving a few minutes early helps.
A few tips:
- Bring your library card. The picture book shelves are right there afterward.
- Keep snacks in the bag until the last song.
- Sit near the edge if your toddler likes to roam. No one minds.
Getting There
Most families drive, and the lot can get busy when a kids' program is on, so leave a few extra minutes. If you plan to take the bus, look up the branch on the LAPL website and map a Metro route from your stop.
More Ideas
Our family events page keeps a running list of puppet shows, museum days and weekend festivals, a handy place to plan a week of family events Los Angeles parents can actually get to. The Los Angeles page covers the rest of the city. If Wednesdays do not fit your schedule, check the library's own calendar for other sessions.
