Old Torrance turns into one long vintage shop on the fourth Sunday of every month, and September's edition lands on the 27th. The Downtown Torrance Antique Street Faire runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and if you're looking for LA events this weekend that don't involve a ticket queue or a parking structure downtown, this is an easy one to say yes to.
What you'll find
Vendors set up canopies right on the street and pile their tables with whatever they've dug up since last month. Expect vintage furniture, retro clothing, old glassware, framed paintings, collectibles and the occasional piece of equipment nobody can quite identify. The mix changes every month because the stock does. A table of floral china might sit next to a box of 1970s records, and that's half the fun.
Bring something you've been wondering about. The faire runs an appraisal booth where you can get an item evaluated for $3, which is cheaper than a coffee around here.
Music and the park
There's live music during the day, and DJ Ozzie has been a regular fixture, playing in the park while people browse. It keeps the mood loose. Plenty of folks treat the faire less as a shopping trip and more as a Sunday morning walk with something to look at.
Who it's for
It's an all-ages event and it's pet-friendly, so dogs on leashes are a common sight between the stalls. According to the Local Anchor listing, admission is free. Serious collectors tend to show up early for first pick. Casual browsers can drift in around lunch and still find plenty.
