Halloween week in Los Angeles has no shortage of haunts, but few put the scares on a waterfront lawn with boats bobbing a few steps away. Marina Spooktacular does exactly that at Burton Chace Park, and if you are scanning for things to do in Los Angeles that work for both small kids and teenagers who want a real fright, this one covers both.
When: Sunday, October 25, 2026, 4 PM to 10 PM Where: Burton Chace Park, 13650 Mindanao Way, Marina del Rey Cost: Free with RSVP
What to expect
The event is billed as an annual Halloween celebration for all ages, and the lineup splits neatly into two moods. Early in the evening, the family side leads. There is Halloween-themed face painting, arts and crafts, and a digital photo booth. Younger kids can work through an interactive Graveyard Treasure Hunt and play carnival games.
As the sun drops over the harbor, the programming gets spookier. The Haunted Blackout Maze and the Scare Zones are aimed at older kids and adults who like a jump scare. Parents with little ones can steer them toward the crafts and games, while teens and friends head for the maze.
Food trucks are on site for dinner and snacks, and the surrounding marina has plenty of restaurants at a range of prices if you would rather eat before or after. Costumes are encouraged, so plan on dressing up.
RSVP and waiver
Admission is free, but you need to RSVP, and every attendee has to complete a liability waiver. An online waiver is available, and filling it out ahead of time means a faster entry at the gate. Do this before you leave the house, especially if you are bringing a group.
Getting there and parking
Burton Chace Park sits at the end of Mindanao Way on the main channel of Marina del Rey. Public parking lots are nearby, with rates that typically run $7 to $10. Both the park and the shuttles are wheelchair accessible.
A fun alternative to driving: the seasonal Marina WaterBus runs from 2 PM to 11 PM on the event days for $1 per person, one way. The open-air water taxi stops at several spots around the marina, including Burton Chace Park and Fisherman's Village, so you can arrive early and cruise the harbor before the scares begin.
Planning your night
The organizers describe this as a two-day event, with Saturday, October 24 also running 4 PM to 10 PM. This page covers the Sunday, October 25 evening. If you are comparing LA events this weekend, Sunday is a good pick if you want a lower-key start to the week of Halloween with the same lineup of attractions.
Arrive near the 4 PM start if you have young children, since the daylight hours are the gentlest part of the night. Stay later if you want the maze and scare zones at full strength. For more, browse our festivals listings for more upcoming events in Los Angeles.
